Chaplain at RiverWoods Senior Living Community will retire

After 23 years of service in numerous roles at Albright Care Services, the Chaplain at RiverWoods Senior Living Community will retire. A retirement celebration was held at the RidgeCrest Restaurant at RiverWoods on June 13, with about 100 residents and staff members attending. Another party will be held at the Nursing Care Center on June 19.

The Reverend Peter F. Geschwindner began his time with Albright in January of 1992, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees. He continued his service through April 1999, including terms as Vice Chair and Chair of the board.

Peter then served as the Director of the Pastoral Care Program at RiverWoods Senior Living Community from April 7, 1999 to April 2, 2001. Next, he moved into his decade long role as Vice President of Fund Development until January 31, 2011. Then Peter served as Vice President for Mission Enhancement until June 30, 2011.

Peter left Albright in July 2011 to become pastor at Tunkhannock United Methodist Church. However, he returned to RiverWoods in the summer of 2014 to serve as Chaplain. His last day as Chaplain will be June 30, 2018.

Peter said, “I have cherished the mission and ministry of this organization from the first time I visited RiverWoods way back in 1984. And I’ve always said that I have a personal investment in our maintaining the highest level of care because one day I may very well find myself a resident here.”
