RiverWoods Senior Living Community Resident Marion Rose celebrated her 101st birthday on Sunday, August 19th, surrounded by family. Marion was born in Reading, PA and moved to Lewisburg many years ago. Marion is one of the oldest living Lewisburg High School alumni and is a member of the First Baptist Church of Lewisburg, where she taught Sunday School.
She was married to the late Harry Vernon Rose. They celebrated 49 years of marriage together until he passed away in 1994. She has four children: Larry Rose of Lewisburg, Mary Ann Calpin of East Stroudsburg, PA, Judy Mickan of Lewisburg, PA and Rick Rose of Gainesville, FL, who passed away in 2017. She has six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Before retiring, Marion was employed by Bucknell University, where she served as the first Human Resource Director for the university. Marion actively volunteered for many non-profit organizations and helped start the Union County Food Distribution. She also volunteered many countless hours for the Meals on Wheels program. One of Marion’s favorite pastimes was knitting. She knitted “prayer shawls” for Christ Lutheran.
Marion enjoys bird watching, loves flowers and gardening, walking and is an avid reader. Marion also loves spending time with her family and friends.
