Meals on Wheels of RiverWoods Receives $1,000 Gift from Giant Food

LEWISBURG – Giant Food Stores has donated $1,000 to Meals on Wheels at RiverWoods Senior Living Community. Ninety hot meals are delivered daily by RiverWoods Meals on Wheels volunteers, Monday through Friday in Lewisburg, Milton and surrounding communities.

The gift from Giant will help subsidize the cost of meals for those who can’t afford the full price. At Meals on Wheels at RiverWoods, the delivered meals cost $3.95 each. Cindy Walker, Meals on Wheels coordinator, says 40 percent of their clients need that price subsidized and the amount varies, according to their monthly income.

Amy Solomon, store manager at Giant Food in Lewisburg, said “Our community partners are very important to us. We try and help as many partners as we can and Meals on Wheels is definitely one association that we really want to form a partnership and relationship with.”

Walker continued, “We realize the value of corporate partnerships and the fact that they want to help us, so it’s important for us to reach out to them and say we do need you. We can work together to provide a much needed service within the community. We want to thank Giant Food for being one of our big supporters.” To learn more about Meals on Wheels, visit
