RiverWoods Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday

RiverWoods Senior Living Community resident Jane Anstadt celebrated her 100th birthday on Monday, May 6, 2019. Anstadt was surrounded by friends and family at the RiverWoods Nursing Care Center and enjoyed birthday cake and balloons. Jane was born in Montana and her family moved to the Watsontown area when she was six-years-old. Jane graduated from Watsontown High School and then worked on her strawberry farm. She raised three children, Dr. George Anstadt, Dr. David Anstadt and Velma Lubliner.

At her birthday party, Jane was accompanied by her daughter Velma, her sister, 86-year-old Marion Suloff and her best friend of 40 years, 83-year-old Yvonne Smith.

Yvonne and Jane met in 1971 when Yvonne moved to Lewisburg. Yvonne said, “Jane is like Mother Teresa to me. She has the coolest personality and I’ve never met anyone like her. I come from South America and she’s from Montana, but here we are in Lewisburg and we’re the very best of friends.”

Jane’s daughter Velma said her mother loves plants and collected jewelry and arrowheads when she was younger. She is now living at RiverWoods and has frequent visits from Yvonne.
