Staying Active is Easy at RiverWoods

At RiverWoods, there are plenty of activities and programs for a variety of interests.

Spiritual Enrichment Program

Our chaplain offers care and comfort to all residents, weekly opportunities for worship and study, as well as counseling, grief support, and other services.

Connecting with our community for lifelong learning

RiverWoods offers the opportunity to connect with the local community through LifeLong Learning. Our community is located near Bucknell University, and residents are encouraged to take part in Bucknell’s Institute for LifeLong Learning, which provides educational opportunities to mature learners in the central Susquehanna community. We’re proud to offer a variety of programs through Bucknell’s LifeLong Learning program. Classes are held on campus in the Private Dining Room and in the Creative Arts Room in RidgeCrest.

Aquatics Center

RiverWoods offers a complete aquatic program including water aerobics, aquacise, free swim periods, lap swims, water volleyball, water walking and more. Our Squeaky Joints classes consist of aquatic exercises approved by the Arthritis Foundation and taught by certified instructors to improve balance, range of motion, and muscular strength. Mens and women’s changing rooms with a shower and lockers are available.

Fitness Center

RiverWoods offers a fitness center complete with treadmills, life cycles, an elliptical machine, free weights and more. Our Fitness Coordinator can tailor a fitness program to fit any residents’ needs. The fitness center is located in RidgeCrest Commons and is open to all residents at no additional charge.

Walking Paths & LifeTrail®

Walking paths outline the entire RiverWoods campus allowing our residents, staff and visitors to enjoy the beautifully landscaped areas of the community.

In the summer of 2009, RiverWoods received a generous donation of The LifeTrail® Advanced Wellness System from Playworld Systems of Lewisburg. Several exercise stations were placed along the walking path and are designed to promote good posture, core strength, active stretching, balance, and strength training. The equipment is specifically for older adults desiring an active lifestyle and was designed in collaboration with gerontology, kinesiology, and recreation experts from Penn State University.

Creative Arts and Crafts and Woodworking Studios

Creativity shines in the RiverWoods woodwork and art and craft studios. The Studio and the wood-shop both allow residents to share their creativity with each other and visitors.
