RiverWoods Senior Living Community is pleased to announce the hiring of a new chaplain. The Reverend Kate Morse started in her new position on July 9, replacing Reverend Peter Geschwindner, who retired at the end of June. Morse comes to RiverWoods after recently serving as chaplain at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Morse has a BA from Nebraska Wesleyan University, a Master of Divinity degree from Eden Theological Seminary and will graduate in May 2019 with a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary. Morse is ordained in the United Church of Christ and is a Board Certified Chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains.
The majority of her career in ministry has been spent working as a chaplain in hospitals located in Louisiana, Alabama, New Hampshire and most recently, Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Morse has also served as a pastor on a part-time basis at a small church in Louisiana.
Morse said, “One of the many reasons that I’m anticipating serving as chaplain at RiverWoods is the opportunity to establish and maintain relationships with residents in times which also include the normal experiences of day-to-day life.” She continued, “I enjoy creative ministry, including opportunities to connect with residents and their loved ones in ways which are meaningful and deeply spiritual. So often these creative ministry opportunities are in response to a need or a suggestion shared with me, which I welcome.”
Morse said another significant focus for her includes supporting staff, “I see caring for the caregivers as vital to the ministry I do.” She also looks forward to establishing connections with churches and other places of worship, as well as worship leaders in the community.
Morse resides in Lewisburg with her husband and twin teenage sons.
